Ziti with Meat Sauce
Ingredients:
- 1 pound ziti pasta
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 (28 ounce) can crushed tomatoes
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh basil
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Instructions:
- Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
- Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Add ziti pasta and cook until al dente, about 8 minutes; drain.
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add onion and garlic; cook and stir until onion is translucent, about 4 minutes. Add ground beef, salt, and black pepper. Cook and stir until beef is browned and crumbly, about 5 minutes. Drain any excess grease.
- Add crushed tomatoes, oregano, and basil to the skillet. Bring to a simmer and let cook for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- In a large baking dish, spread a thin layer of the meat sauce on the bottom. Layer half of the cooked ziti on top of the sauce. Top with half of the remaining meat sauce. Repeat layers, ending with the remaining meat sauce on top.
- Sprinkle mozzarella cheese and Parmesan cheese on top of the sauce.
