Zebra Cake
Ingredients:
- 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 ½ tsp baking powder
- ½ tsp salt
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 3 eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- ½ cup milk
- 2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
- In a large bowl, cream together the sugar and butter until light and fluffy. Add in the eggs, one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract. Gradually mix in the dry ingredients, alternating with the milk, until well combined.
- Divide the batter in half, placing one half in a separate bowl. Mix in the cocoa powder into one half of the batter until fully incorporated.
- To create the zebra pattern, begin by dropping a spoonful of the vanilla batter into the center of the prepared cake pan. Then, drop a spoonful of the chocolate batter on top of the vanilla batter. Continue alternating between the two batters, letting them spread out on their own. This will create a bullseye pattern.
- Once all of the batter is used up, gently tap the pan on the counter to settle the batter and remove any air bubbles.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.
- Let the cake cool
