Yellow Cake
Ingredients:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 and 1/2 cups sugar
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 3 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup milk
- yellow food coloring (optional)
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13 inch baking pan.
- In a medium bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt, and mix well.
- In a separate large bowl, cream the butter until smooth.
- Add in the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
- Stir in the vanilla extract.
- Gradually add in the dry mixture to the wet mixture, alternating with the milk.
- If desired, add a few drops of yellow food coloring to achieve a brighter yellow color.
- Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly.
- Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes before removing it from the pan to cool completely.
- Slice and serve as desired, with your favorite frosting or toppings.
