Yellow Cake

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13 inch baking pan.
  2. In a medium bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt, and mix well.
  3. In a separate large bowl, cream the butter until smooth.
  4. Add in the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  5. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  6. Gradually add in the dry mixture to the wet mixture, alternating with the milk.
  7. If desired, add a few drops of yellow food coloring to achieve a brighter yellow color.
  8. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly.
  9. Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  10. Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes before removing it from the pan to cool completely.
  11. Slice and serve as desired, with your favorite frosting or toppings.
