Yeast Rolls
Ingredients:
- 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast/li>
- 1/4 cup warm water (110-115 degrees F)
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted and cooled
- 1 cup warm milk (110-115 degrees F)
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 4 1/2 - 5 cups all-purpose flour
Instructions:
- In a small bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water and let sit for about 5 minutes.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine sugar, melted butter, warm milk, salt, and beaten eggs.
- Add yeast mixture to the mixing bowl and mix well.
- Gradually add flour, 1 cup at a time, mixing well after each addition. Dough should be smooth and slightly sticky.
- Turn dough out onto a floured surface and knead for 5-10 minutes.
- Place dough in a greased bowl, cover with a dish towel, and let rise in a warm place for 1-2 hours.
- Punch down the dough and divide into 12 equal balls. Place in a greased 9x13 inch baking dish.
- Cover again and let rise for an additional 30 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
- Bake rolls for 20-25 minutes, until golden brown.
- Remove from oven and brush with melted butter, if desired.
