Upside-Down Apple Pie

Ingredients:

Instructions:

  1. In a medium-sized mixing bowl, combine the flour, salt, and shortening. Use a fork or pastry cutter to cut the shortening into the flour mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs.
  2. Sprinkle cold water over the mixture, one tablespoon at a time, and mix until the dough comes together into a ball.
  3. Roll out the dough on a floured surface and transfer it into a 9-inch pie dish. Trim the excess dough and crimp the edges.
  4. Melt the butter in a saucepan and stir in the brown sugar and cinnamon. Pour the mixture into the pie crust, spreading it evenly.
  5. Arrange the apple slices on top of the sugar mixture, making sure they are tightly packed. Sprinkle with chopped nuts if desired.
  6. Bake at 375 degrees Fahrenheit for 45 minutes or until the crust is golden brown and the apples are tender.
  7. Let the pie cool for at least 10 minutes before carefully flipping it over onto a serving plate.
  8. Serve warm and enjoy your delicious Upside-Down Apple Pie!
