Unstuffed Cabbage Rolls
Ingredients:
- 1 head of cabbage
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup cooked rice
- 1 (28-ounce) can diced tomatoes
- 1 (8-ounce) can tomato sauce
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 1/4 cup chopped parsley, for garnish
Instructions:
- In a large pot of boiling water, blanch the cabbage leaves for 3-5 minutes, until wilted but still slightly firm. Remove from water and set aside to cool.
- In a separate pan, cook the ground beef, onion, and garlic until beef is browned and onions are softened. Drain any excess grease.
- Add cooked rice, diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper to the pan with the ground beef. Stir to combine.
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Place a spoonful of the beef and rice mixture onto each cabbage leaf and roll up, tucking in the sides as you go. Place the rolls in a baking dish, seam-side down.
- Cover the baking dish with foil and bake for 30 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, until the edges of the cabbage are slightly crispy.
- Garnish with chopped parsley before serving. Enjoy your unstuffed cabbage rolls!
