Turkey
Ingredients:
- 1 whole turkey, thawed
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 tablespoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon dried thyme
- 1 tablespoon dried rosemary
- 1 tablespoon dried sage
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 onion, quartered
- 1 lemon, quartered
- 1 cup chicken broth
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Remove neck and giblets from the turkey and rinse it inside and out.
- Pat turkey dry with paper towels.
- In a small bowl, mix together melted butter, garlic powder, thyme, rosemary, sage, salt, and pepper.
- Brush the mixture all over the turkey, making sure to get it under the skin.
- Place onion and lemon inside the turkey cavity.
- Tie the legs together with kitchen twine.
- Place turkey in a roasting pan and pour chicken broth into the bottom of the pan.
- Cover the turkey loosely with aluminum foil.
- Bake for 3 1/2 to 4 hours, or until the internal temperature of the thickest part of the turkey reaches 165°F (75°C).
- Remove the foil during the last hour of cooking to allow the skin to brown.
- Let the turkey rest for 15 minutes before carving and serving.
