Turkey

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Remove neck and giblets from the turkey and rinse it inside and out.
  3. Pat turkey dry with paper towels.
  4. In a small bowl, mix together melted butter, garlic powder, thyme, rosemary, sage, salt, and pepper.
  5. Brush the mixture all over the turkey, making sure to get it under the skin.
  6. Place onion and lemon inside the turkey cavity.
  7. Tie the legs together with kitchen twine.
  8. Place turkey in a roasting pan and pour chicken broth into the bottom of the pan.
  9. Cover the turkey loosely with aluminum foil.
  10. Bake for 3 1/2 to 4 hours, or until the internal temperature of the thickest part of the turkey reaches 165°F (75°C).
  11. Remove the foil during the last hour of cooking to allow the skin to brown.
  12. Let the turkey rest for 15 minutes before carving and serving.
