Toffee
Ingredients:
- 1 cup butter
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup chocolate chips
- 1/4 cup chopped nuts (optional)
Instructions:
- In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
- Add in the brown sugar, vanilla extract, and salt, stirring continuously until the mixture comes to a boil.
- Continue to cook and stir the mixture for 7 minutes, until it turns a golden brown color.
- Remove from heat and pour onto a greased baking sheet.
- Spread the mixture evenly with a spatula or the back of a spoon.
- Sprinkle the chocolate chips on top of the hot toffee.
- Let the chocolate chips melt for a minute, then spread them over the toffee with a spatula.
- Sprinkle with chopped nuts if desired.
- Place the toffee in the fridge to cool and set for at least 2 hours.
- Once set, remove from the fridge and break the toffee into smaller pieces with your hands or a knife.
