Tamale

Instructions:

  1. Soak the corn husks in hot water for about 30 minutes to soften them.
  2. In a large bowl, mix masa flour, chicken or vegetable broth, lard or shortening, baking powder, and salt until well combined.
  3. In a separate bowl, mix together shredded meat, salsa or diced tomatoes, onion, bell pepper, olives, and cheese.
  4. Drain the corn husks and pat dry with paper towels.
  5. Take a corn husk and spread a thin layer of the masa mixture on top, leaving 1-2 inches of space at the top and bottom.
  6. Place a spoonful of the meat mixture on top of the masa, then fold the sides of the corn husk towards the center, and roll the tamale tightly.
  7. Repeat with the remaining husks and filling.
  8. Place the tamales in a steamer basket
