Roast Turkey
Ingredients:
- 1 12-14 lb whole turkey
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 tablespoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon dried thyme
- 1 tablespoon dried rosemary
- 1 tablespoon dried sage
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 cup chicken broth
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C).
- In a small mixing bowl, combine the butter, garlic powder, thyme, rosemary, sage, salt, and black pepper. Mix well.
- Rinse the turkey and pat it dry with paper towels.
- Place the turkey on a roasting rack in a roasting pan.
- Gently loosen the skin over the breast and thighs of the turkey.
- Using your hands, rub the butter mixture under the skin and all over the outside of the turkey.
- Pour the chicken broth into the bottom of the roasting pan.
- Cover the turkey loosely with aluminum foil and place it in the oven.
- Roast the turkey for about 15 minutes per pound, or until a meat thermometer inserted into the thickest part of the turkey reads 165°F (74°C).
- During the last 30 minutes of cooking, remove the foil and baste the turkey with the juices in the pan.
- Once the turkey is fully cooked, remove it from the oven and let it rest for about 20 minutes before carving and serving.
