Pound Cake

  1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add in the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  4. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour and salt.
  6. Slowly add the flour mixture to the butter mixture, alternating with the milk, until everything is well combined.
  7. Pour the batter into a greased 9x5 inch loaf pan.
  8. Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  9. Let the pound cake cool in the pan for 5-10 minutes before removing and placing on a wire rack to cool completely.
  10. Slice and serve as desired, with whipped cream, fresh fruit, or on its own.
