Panettone
Ingredients:
- 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp nutmeg
- 1/4 tsp cardamom
- 1/4 tsp allspice
- 1/4 tsp ground ginger
- 1/2 cup raisins
- 1/4 cup candied orange peel
- 1/4 cup candied lemon peel
- 1/4 cup dried cranberries
- 2 tbsp warm water
- 1 package active dry yeast
- 1/4 cup warm milk
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions:
- In a large bowl, mix together flour, sugar, salt, and spices.
- Add raisins, candied orange and lemon peel, and dried cranberries to the flour mixture and mix well.
- In a small bowl, mix together warm water and yeast until yeast is dissolved.
- In a separate bowl, mix together warm milk, melted butter, eggs, and vanilla extract.
- Add yeast mixture and milk mixture to the flour mixture and mix well until a soft dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes, until it becomes smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place
