Orange Marmalade
Ingredients:
- 8 oranges
- 4 lemons
- 9 cups of sugar
- 4 cups of water
Instructions:
- Wash the oranges and lemons, then slice them into thin rounds.
- In a large pot, combine the sliced oranges and lemons with the sugar and water.
- Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat, stirring occasionally.
- Reduce the heat to low and let the mixture simmer for 1 hour, stirring occasionally.
- After 1 hour, use a potato masher or immersion blender to mash the fruit. This will release the pulp and create a thicker consistency.
- Continue to simmer the mixture for another hour, stirring occasionally, until it thickens and turns a deep orange color.
- Once the mixture is thick and syrupy, remove it from the heat and let it cool for 10 minutes.
- Pour the orange marmalade into sterilized jars, leaving about 1/4 inch of headspace at the top.
- Seal the jars and let them cool completely before storing in the refrigerator.
- Enjoy your homemade orange marmalade on toast, pancakes, or as a topping for desserts!
