New York Strip Steak
Ingredients:
- 2 New York strip steaks (about 1 inch thick)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- Salt and pepper
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 sprig of thyme
Instructions:
- Remove steaks from the refrigerator and let them come to room temperature for about 30 minutes. This will ensure even cooking.
- Preheat your grill or grill pan to high heat and lightly oil the grates.
- Brush both sides of the steaks with olive oil and generously season with salt and pepper.
- Place steaks on the hot grill or grill pan and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare or until desired doneness. Use a meat thermometer to check for doneness - 130°F for medium-rare, 140°F for medium.
- While the steaks are cooking, heat a small pan over medium heat and add 2 tablespoons of butter. Once melted, add minced garlic and thyme sprig. Cook for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
- Once done, remove steaks from the grill and let them rest for 5-10 minutes. This will allow the juices to redistribute and make for a juicier steak.
- Once rested, brush the steaks with the garlic butter mixture on both sides.
- Serve immediately and enjoy your perfectly cooked New York strip steaks!
