Nashville Hot Chicken
Ingredients:
- 2 lbs boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp cayenne pepper
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 large egg
- 2 tbsp hot sauce
- Oil for frying
- 1/4 cup hot sauce
- 1 tbsp butter
- 1 tbsp honey
- 1 tsp cayenne pepper
- 1 tsp brown sugar
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp paprika
Instructions:
- In a large bowl, mix together the flour, salt, black pepper, paprika, garlic powder, and cayenne pepper.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the buttermilk, egg, and 2 tbsp hot sauce.
- Pat the chicken breasts dry and dip them in the flour mixture, then the buttermilk mixture, and then back into the flour mixture. Be sure to coat the chicken well in each step.
- In a large skillet, heat enough oil to cover the bottom of the pan over medium-high heat.
- Fry the chicken for about 6-8 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cooked through. Keep an eye on the chicken to make sure it doesn't burn.
