Monte Cristo Sandwich

Ingredients:

Instructions:

  1. In a shallow dish, whisk together the eggs, milk, Dijon mustard, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
  2. Spread one side of each bread slice with a thin layer of Dijon mustard.
  3. On two bread slices, layer one slice of Swiss cheese, one slice of ham, and one slice of turkey. Top with the remaining bread slices, mustard side down, to make sandwiches.
  4. In a large skillet, melt about 2 tablespoons of butter over medium heat.
  5. Dip the sandwiches into the egg mixture, coating both sides evenly.
  6. Place the sandwiches in the skillet and cook until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side.
  7. Once both sides are cooked, remove from the skillet and cut each sandwich in half diagonally to make four smaller sandwiches.
  8. Sprinkle with powdered sugar and serve with raspberry or strawberry jam for dipping.
