Meringue
Ingredients:
- 4 egg whites
- 1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 225 degrees F (110 degrees C).
- In a large bowl, beat egg whites until foamy.
- Add cream of tartar and continue to beat until soft peaks form.
- Sift in sugar, a little at a time, while continuing to beat until stiff peaks form.
- Beat in vanilla extract.
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Spoon or pipe the meringue onto the parchment paper in desired shapes.
- Bake for 1 hour, or until meringues are dry and crisp.
- Turn off oven and leave meringues inside to cool completely before removing.
