Korean Fried Chicken
Ingredients:
- 1 whole chicken, cut into pieces
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp pepper
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 2 tbsp gochujang (Korean chili paste)
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp rice wine
- Vegetable oil for frying
- Sesame seeds and green onions for garnish
Instructions:
- In a large bowl, mix together flour, salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika.
- In a separate bowl, mix together buttermilk, gochujang, soy sauce, and rice wine.
- Coat chicken pieces in the flour mixture, then dip into the buttermilk mixture, and then back into the flour mixture.
- In a large pot or deep fryer, heat vegetable oil to 375°F (190°C).
- Carefully place chicken pieces into the hot oil and fry for about 10 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through.
- Remove chicken from oil and place on a wire rack to drain excess oil.
- Sprinkle chicken with sesame seeds and green onions for garnish.
