Italian Bruschetta
Ingredients:
- 6 slices of crusty Italian bread
- 2 cloves of garlic, peeled and sliced
- 6 ripe plum tomatoes, diced
- 1 small red onion, diced
- 1/4 cup fresh basil, chopped
- 1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions:
- Preheat the oven to 400˚F (200˚C). Slice the Italian bread into 1-inch thick slices and place them on a baking sheet.
- Brush each slice of bread with olive oil and sprinkle with garlic slices.
- Bake for 5 minutes or until bread is lightly toasted.
- In a mixing bowl, combine diced tomatoes, red onion, and fresh basil. Drizzle with olive oil and season with salt and pepper.
- Remove the bread from the oven and top each slice with the tomato mixture.
- Return the bruschetta to the oven and bake for an additional 5 minutes.
- Serve immediately and enjoy your delicious Italian Bruschetta!
