Icing Glazed Donuts
Ingredients:
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2 tbsp milk
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- Optional toppings: sprinkles, chopped nuts, chocolate chips
Instructions:
- In a mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together milk, melted butter, egg, and vanilla extract.
- Slowly pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients, stirring until well combined.
- On a floured surface, roll out the dough to 1/4 inch thickness.
- Using a donut cutter, cut out donut shapes from the dough. If you don't have a cutter, you can use two round cookie cutters – one larger and one smaller – to cut out the donuts.
- Heat oil in a deep-fryer or pot to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Carefully place the donuts in the hot oil, frying for about 2 minutes on each side or until golden brown.
- Once fried, remove donuts from oil and place them on a paper towel to drain excess oil.
- In a small bowl, mix together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract to create the glaze.
