  1. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the heavy cream, milk, sugar, vanilla extract, and salt until well combined.
  2. Pour the mixture into an ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer's instructions.
  3. If desired, add in any mix-ins during the last few minutes of churning.
  4. Once the ice cream is thick and creamy, transfer it to a freezer-safe container and freeze for at least 2 hours before serving.
