Gyros
Ingredients:
- 1 pound of lamb or beef, thinly sliced
- 1 onion, sliced
- 1 tomato, sliced
- 4-6 pita breads
- 1/2 cup of tzatziki sauce
- 1/4 cup of olive oil
- 1 tablespoon of lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon of dried oregano
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Instructions:
- In a bowl, mix together the olive oil, lemon juice, oregano, salt, and pepper.
- Add the sliced meat to the marinade and let it marinate for at least 30 minutes.
- In a separate pan, sauté the onions until they are caramelized.
- Remove the meat from the marinade and grill it for about 3-5 minutes on each side, until cooked through.
- Warm the pita bread in a toaster or on the grill for about 1 minute.
- Assemble the gyros by placing the grilled meat, sautéed onions, and sliced tomatoes on top of the pita bread.
- Drizzle tzatziki sauce over the meat and vegetables.
- Wrap the pita bread around the fillings and secure with toothpicks.
- Serve hot and enjoy your homemade gyros!
