Guava and Cheese Pastries
Ingredients:
- 1 package (17.3 ounces) frozen puff pastry, thawed
- 1 cup guava paste
- 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 egg, lightly beaten
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 375 degrees F.
- On a lightly floured surface, roll out one sheet of puff pastry into a 12-inch square.
- Spread the guava paste evenly over the pastry, leaving a 1-inch border around the edges.
- In a separate bowl, mix together the cream cheese, sugar, and beaten egg until well combined.
- Spoon the cream cheese mixture over the guava paste in an even layer.
- Roll out the remaining sheet of puff pastry into a 12-inch square and place it on top of the filling, pressing the edges together to seal.
- Trim the edges of the pastry and cut it into 16 squares.
- Place the squares on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Brush with beaten egg and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown.
- Allow the pastries to cool for a few minutes before serving.
