Guava and Cheese Pastries

  1. Preheat your oven to 375 degrees F.
  2. On a lightly floured surface, roll out one sheet of puff pastry into a 12-inch square.
  3. Spread the guava paste evenly over the pastry, leaving a 1-inch border around the edges.
  4. In a separate bowl, mix together the cream cheese, sugar, and beaten egg until well combined.
  5. Spoon the cream cheese mixture over the guava paste in an even layer.
  6. Roll out the remaining sheet of puff pastry into a 12-inch square and place it on top of the filling, pressing the edges together to seal.
  7. Trim the edges of the pastry and cut it into 16 squares.
  8. Place the squares on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  9. Brush with beaten egg and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown.
  10. Allow the pastries to cool for a few minutes before serving.
