Gooey Butter Cake

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F. Grease a 9x13 inch baking pan and set aside.
  2. In a medium bowl, mix together the flour, 1/2 cup of unsalted butter, and granulated sugar until well combined. Press the mixture into the bottom of the prepared baking pan to form a crust.
  3. In a separate bowl, beat together the melted butter, eggs, 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract, and milk until well combined. Pour the mixture over the crust in the baking pan.
  4. In another bowl, beat together the cream cheese and 1/4 cup of unsalted butter until smooth. Gradually add in the confectioners' sugar and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract, beating until well combined. Pour the mixture over the top of the cake batter in the pan.
  5. Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and the center is slightly gooey. Remove from the oven and let cool before slicing and serving.
