Gnocchi
Ingredients:
- 2 pounds russet potatoes
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 large egg
- Salt
- Pepper
- Nutmeg
Instructions:
- Wash and peel the potatoes and cut them into cubes. Boil in salted water for 15-20 minutes until tender.
- Drain the potatoes and mash them until smooth.
- In a separate bowl, beat the egg and add it to the mashed potatoes. Mix well.
- Add the flour, a little at a time, until the dough comes together. Add salt, pepper, and a pinch of nutmeg to taste.
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.
- On a floured surface, roll the dough into long ropes and cut into small pieces.
- Drop the gnocchi into the boiling water and cook until they float to the surface. This should take about 2-3 minutes.
- Remove the gnocchi with a slotted spoon and place on a plate.
- You can serve the gnocchi with your favorite sauce or toppings, such as marinara sauce, pesto, or grated cheese.
