Gnocchi

  1. Wash and peel the potatoes and cut them into cubes. Boil in salted water for 15-20 minutes until tender.
  2. Drain the potatoes and mash them until smooth.
  3. In a separate bowl, beat the egg and add it to the mashed potatoes. Mix well.
  4. Add the flour, a little at a time, until the dough comes together. Add salt, pepper, and a pinch of nutmeg to taste.
  5. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.
  6. On a floured surface, roll the dough into long ropes and cut into small pieces.
  7. Drop the gnocchi into the boiling water and cook until they float to the surface. This should take about 2-3 minutes.
  8. Remove the gnocchi with a slotted spoon and place on a plate.
  9. You can serve the gnocchi with your favorite sauce or toppings, such as marinara sauce, pesto, or grated cheese.
