Glazed Donuts
Ingredients:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Oil, for frying
Glaze:
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 4 tablespoons milk
Instructions:
- In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together milk, melted butter, egg, and vanilla extract.
- Pour wet ingredients into dry ingredients and mix until well combined.
- On a floured surface, roll out dough to 1/2 inch thickness.
- Using a donut cutter or a round cookie cutter, cut out donut shapes and transfer them to a floured baking sheet.
- In a large pot, heat oil to 375°F (190°C).
- Gently place donuts into the hot oil and fry for 1-2 minutes, until lightly golden brown on each side.
- Remove donuts from oil and place on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
- To make the glaze, whisk together powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and milk in a shallow bowl until smooth.
