Gingerbread Cookies
Ingredients:
- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1 tsp ground ginger
- 1/2 tsp ground cloves
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 3/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup molasses
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar (for rolling)
Instructions:
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, cinnamon, ginger, cloves, and salt.
- In a large bowl, beat together the butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add in the molasses, egg, and vanilla extract, and mix until well combined.
- Sift in the dry ingredients and mix until a dough forms.
- Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Remove the dough from the refrigerator and let it sit at room temperature for about 10 minutes.
- Roll out the dough on a floured surface to about 1/4 inch thickness.
- Use cookie cutters to cut out desired shapes.
- Place the cookies onto the prepared baking sheet and sprinkle with granulated sugar.
