Fried Green Tomatoes

  1. In a shallow dish, mix together flour, cornmeal, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, oregano, salt, and pepper.
  2. In another shallow dish, whisk together buttermilk and egg.
  3. Heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat.
  4. Dip tomato slices in the buttermilk mixture, then dredge in the flour mixture, making sure to coat both sides.
  5. Carefully place tomato slices in the hot oil and fry until golden brown, about 3 minutes on each side.
  6. Remove from oil and place on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
  7. Serve hot and enjoy!
