French Fries

  1. Preheat vegetable oil in a deep fryer to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. Wash and peel potatoes. Cut them into thin strips about 1/4 inch wide.
  3. Soak the potato strips in cold water for at least 30 minutes to remove excess starch.
  4. Drain and dry the potato strips with paper towels or a clean kitchen towel.
  5. Carefully place potato strips in the hot oil, frying in small batches for 3-4 minutes or until golden brown.
  6. Remove fries from hot oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to absorb excess oil.
  7. Sprinkle with salt and any optional seasonings while still hot.
  8. Serve and enjoy!
