Fish and Chips
Ingredients:
- 1 pound of cod fillets
- 1 cup of all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon of baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon of salt
- 1/2 teaspoon of black pepper
- 1 cup of beer
- Vegetable oil for frying
- 4 large potatoes
- Salt for seasoning
Instructions:
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, salt, and black pepper.
- Gradually add in the beer, whisking until the batter is smooth and free of lumps.
- Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let it sit for 30 minutes to 1 hour.
- While the batter is resting, prepare the potatoes by peeling and cutting them into thick strips.
- In a large pot, heat the vegetable oil to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Carefully place the potato strips into the hot oil and fry for 4-5 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.
- Remove the potatoes from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. Season with salt while they are still hot.
- In the same oil, fry the cod fillets for 3-4 minutes on each side or until they are golden brown and fully cooked.
- Once cooked, remove the fish from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
- Serve the fish and chips hot with your choice of dipping sauce. Enjoy!
