Dutch Apple Pie
Ingredients:
- 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- ½ cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
- ⅓ cup granulated sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 6-8 apples (Granny Smith or Braeburn work well), peeled, cored, and sliced
- ½ cup brown sugar
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- ½ tsp ground nutmeg
- ½ cup all-purpose flour
- 6 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
Instructions:
- In a large mixing bowl, combine 1 ½ cups flour, ½ cup cubed butter, ⅓ cup granulated sugar, and 1 tsp salt.
- Mix with a fork or pastry cutter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Press mixture into the bottom and sides of a 9-inch pie dish.
- In a separate mixing bowl, mix together sliced apples, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and ½ cup flour.
- Pour apple mixture into pie crust and spread evenly.
- Drizzle melted butter over the top of the apples.
- Bake at 375 degrees Fahrenheit for 45-50 minutes, or until crust is golden brown and apples are tender.
- Let cool for 10-15 minutes before serving.
