Dulce de Leche
Ingredients:
- 2 cups whole milk
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/4 tsp baking soda
Instructions:
- In a medium saucepan, combine milk, sugar, and vanilla extract.
- Heat over medium heat, stirring constantly until the sugar has dissolved.
- Once sugar has dissolved, add in the baking soda and stir to combine.
- Continue stirring constantly until the mixture thickens and turns a light brown color. This can take about 30-40 minutes.
- Remove from heat once desired consistency is reached (remember it will thicken more as it cools).
- Let the mixture cool for about 10 minutes before pouring into a jar or container to store in the fridge.
- Enjoy your homemade dulce de leche on your favorite desserts or as a spread on toast.
