Dirty Rice
Ingredients:
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 1 green bell pepper, diced
- 2 cloves of garlic, minced
- 1 cup long grain rice
- 2 cups chicken broth
- 1 tablespoon Cajun seasoning
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1/4 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/4 teaspoon paprika
- 1 bay leaf
- Salt to taste
- Green onions, sliced for garnish
Instructions:
- In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned. Drain and set aside.
- In the same skillet, sauté the onion, bell pepper, and garlic until softened, about 5 minutes.
- Add the rice to the skillet, stirring to coat with the vegetable mixture.
- Add the chicken broth, Cajun seasoning, cayenne pepper, black pepper, thyme, oregano, paprika, and bay leaf.
- Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 20 minutes or until rice is cooked.
- Remove the bay leaf and stir in the cooked ground beef. Season with salt to taste.
- Cover and let sit for 5 minutes before serving.
- Garnish with sliced green onions and enjoy your delicious Dirty Rice!
