Devil's Food Cake
Ingredients:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 3/4 cups granulated sugar
- 3/4 cup cocoa powder
- 2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 2 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 cup hot black coffee
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Mix well.
- In a separate bowl, beat the buttermilk, oil, eggs, and vanilla extract together until well combined.
- Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix until just combined.
- Gradually pour in the hot coffee, stirring until well combined.
- Divide the batter evenly between the two prepared cake pans.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes before removing them and allowing them to cool completely on a wire rack.
- Once cooled, assemble the cake by placing one layer on a cake plate and spreading your choice of frosting on top. Place the second layer on top and frost the entire cake. Serve and enjoy your delicious Devil's Food Cake!
