Date Nut Bread
Ingredients:
- 1 cup chopped dates
- 1 cup boiling water
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
- In a medium bowl, combine the chopped dates, boiling water, and baking soda. Let it sit for 10 minutes.
- In a separate bowl, cream together the melted butter and sugar. Add in the egg and mix well.
- In a third bowl, sift together the flour and salt.
- Slowly add the dry ingredients into the butter mixture, mixing until well combined.
- Fold in the date mixture and chopped walnuts.
- Pour the batter into a greased 9x5 inch loaf pan.
- Bake for 50-60 minutes, until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Let the bread cool before slicing and serving.
