Date Nut Bread

  1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. In a medium bowl, combine the chopped dates, boiling water, and baking soda. Let it sit for 10 minutes.
  3. In a separate bowl, cream together the melted butter and sugar. Add in the egg and mix well.
  4. In a third bowl, sift together the flour and salt.
  5. Slowly add the dry ingredients into the butter mixture, mixing until well combined.
  6. Fold in the date mixture and chopped walnuts.
  7. Pour the batter into a greased 9x5 inch loaf pan.
  8. Bake for 50-60 minutes, until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  9. Let the bread cool before slicing and serving.
