Cinnamon Rolls
Ingredients:
- 2 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp salt
- 8 tbsp unsalted butter, cubed
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- ½ cup milk
- 2 ¼ tsp active dry yeast
- 1 ½ tbsp ground cinnamon
- ¾ cup light brown sugar
- 6 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- Cream cheese frosting (optional)
Instructions:
- In a large mixing bowl, combine 2 cups of flour, salt, and cubed butter. Using a pastry cutter or your hands, work the butter into the flour until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- In a small saucepan, heat milk until warm. Remove from heat and add yeast. Let sit for 5 minutes.
- Add sugar and egg to the milk mixture and whisk until well combined.
- Pour the wet mixture into the dry mixture and stir until dough comes together. If dough is too sticky, add remaining ¼ cup of flour. Knead dough on a floured surface for 5 minutes.
- Place dough in a greased bowl, cover with plastic wrap, and let rise for 1 hour.
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking pan.
- In a small bowl, mix together cinnamon and brown sugar. Set aside.
- On a floured surface, roll out dough into a 16x12 inch rectangle. Brush melted butter over dough, leaving a 1 inch border on one of the longer sides. Sprinkle cinnamon sugar mixture evenly
