Chicken Shawarma
Ingredients:
- 1 lb chicken breast, sliced
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 1/4 cup lemon juice
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp cumin
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1/2 tsp coriander
- 1/4 tsp turmeric
- 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 4 pita breads
- 1 tomato, diced
- 1/2 onion, diced
- 1/4 cup parsley, chopped
- 1/4 cup tzatziki sauce
Instructions:
- In a large bowl, combine olive oil, lemon juice, garlic, cumin, paprika, coriander, turmeric, cayenne pepper, and salt and pepper. Mix well.
- Add chicken slices to the marinade and stir to coat. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, or overnight for best flavor.
- Preheat a skillet over medium-high heat. Cook chicken for 5-6 minutes on each side, until fully cooked and golden brown.
- Warm pita bread in the skillet for a few minutes on each side.
- Assemble shawarma by placing chicken, tomato, onion, and parsley on one end of the pita bread. Drizzle with tzatziki sauce.
- Roll up the pita tightly, tucking in the sides as you go.
- Serve immediately and enjoy your delicious homemade chicken shawarma!
