Chicken Fried Steak
Ingredients:
- 1 pound cube steak
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 cup vegetable or canola oil
- 1 cup milk
- salt and pepper to taste
Instructions:
- In a shallow dish, mix together flour, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, 1 teaspoon salt, and 1/2 teaspoon black pepper.
- Heat oil in a large skillet over medium high heat.
- Pound the cube steak to tenderize and season with salt and pepper.
- Dip each piece of steak into the flour mixture, coating each side well.
- Carefully place the coated steaks into the hot oil and cook until browned on both sides, about 3-4 minutes per side.
- Remove steaks from skillet and place on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
- Reduce heat to medium and whisk milk into the remaining oil and flour mixture in the skillet. Continue whisking until mixture thickens and becomes a creamy gravy.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Serve the chicken fried steaks with the gravy on top. Enjoy!
