Bolognese Sauce
Ingredients:
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 carrot, chopped
- 1 celery stalk, chopped
- 1 can (28 oz) crushed tomatoes
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1/4 cup tomato paste
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 1 tsp dried basil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 pound pasta
- Grated parmesan cheese for serving
Instructions:
- In a large pot or dutch oven, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned.
- Add in the chopped onion and garlic and cook for 2-3 minutes until fragrant.
- Add in the chopped carrot and celery and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes.
- Pour in the crushed tomatoes, beef broth, tomato paste, dried oregano, dried basil, and salt and pepper to taste.
- Bring the sauce to a boil, then reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- In the meantime, cook the pasta according to package instructions.
- Once the pasta is cooked, drain and add it to the pot with the bolognese sauce. Toss to coat the pasta in the sauce.
- Serve hot, topped with grated parmesan cheese.
