Bangers and Mash
Ingredients:
- 6 large potatoes
- 1 cup milk
- ½ cup butter
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon pepper
- 1 pound pork sausages
- 1 onion, sliced
- 1 cup beef or vegetable broth
Instructions:
- Peel and chop the potatoes into small chunks. Place them in a large pot and cover with cold water. Bring to a boil and cook until tender, about 20 minutes.
- While the potatoes are cooking, heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the sausages and cook for 8-10 minutes, turning occasionally, until they are browned and cooked through. Remove from skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add the sliced onion and cook for a few minutes until softened. Pour in the beef or vegetable broth and stir, scraping up any brown bits from the bottom of the pan. Bring to a simmer.
- Reduce heat to low and return the sausages to the skillet, allowing them to simmer in the broth for about 10 minutes.
- While the sausages are simmering, drain the cooked potatoes and return them to the pot. Add the milk, butter, salt, and pepper. Mash until the potatoes are smooth and creamy.
- To serve, place a generous scoop of mashed potatoes on a plate. Top with a couple of sausages and a spoonful of the onion gravy. Serve hot and enjoy your delicious Bangers and Mash!
