Banana Cream Pie

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Place the pre-made pie crust in a 9-inch pie dish and crimp the edges.
  3. Bake the crust for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown. Once done, let it cool completely.
  4. In a saucepan, combine sugar, cornstarch, and milk. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until the mixture thickens.
  5. In a separate bowl, whisk the egg yolks. Gradually add about 1/2 cup of the hot milk mixture to the egg yolks and mix well.
  6. Pour the egg yolk mixture back into the saucepan and cook for an additional 2 minutes, stirring constantly.
  7. Remove from the heat and stir in vanilla extract. Let it cool for about 10 minutes.
  8. Once cooled, slice the bananas and arrange them on the bottom of the pie crust.
  9. Pour the custard mixture over the bananas, smoothing the top with a spatula.
  10. In a chilled mixing bowl, beat the heavy cream until stiff peaks form
