Banana Cream Pie
Ingredients:
- 1 9-inch pre-made pie crust
- 3 large ripe bananas
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup cornstarch
- 2 cups whole milk
- 3 egg yolks
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Place the pre-made pie crust in a 9-inch pie dish and crimp the edges.
- Bake the crust for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown. Once done, let it cool completely.
- In a saucepan, combine sugar, cornstarch, and milk. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until the mixture thickens.
- In a separate bowl, whisk the egg yolks. Gradually add about 1/2 cup of the hot milk mixture to the egg yolks and mix well.
- Pour the egg yolk mixture back into the saucepan and cook for an additional 2 minutes, stirring constantly.
- Remove from the heat and stir in vanilla extract. Let it cool for about 10 minutes.
- Once cooled, slice the bananas and arrange them on the bottom of the pie crust.
- Pour the custard mixture over the bananas, smoothing the top with a spatula.
- In a chilled mixing bowl, beat the heavy cream until stiff peaks form
