Baklava

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
  2. In a medium bowl, mix together walnuts, 1/4 cup sugar, ground cinnamon, and ground cloves.
  3. Place 10 sheets of phyllo dough in the bottom of the prepared dish, brushing each sheet with melted butter.
  4. Sprinkle 1/4 of the nut mixture over the phyllo dough.
  5. Repeat layering with phyllo dough and nut mixture until all ingredients are used, ending with a layer of phyllo dough on top.
  6. Using a sharp knife, cut the baklava into squares or diamonds, all the way to the bottom of the dish.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 50 minutes, or until golden brown.
  8. While baklava is baking, combine honey, water, 1/2 cup sugar, lemon juice, and cinnamon stick in a saucepan. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and let simmer for 20 minutes.
  9. When baklava is done, remove from oven and immediately pour
