Baked Ziti
Ingredients:
- 1 pound ziti pasta
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 onion, chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 (24 ounce) jar marinara sauce
- 1 (15 ounce) container ricotta cheese
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
- In a large pot of boiling salted water, cook ziti pasta until al dente. Drain.
- In a large skillet, brown ground beef over medium heat. Add onion and garlic, and cook until onion is translucent.
- Add oregano, basil, red pepper flakes, salt, and pepper to the skillet and stir to combine.
- Stir in marinara sauce and cooked ziti pasta.
- In a separate bowl, mix together ricotta cheese, Parmesan cheese, and 1 cup of mozzarella cheese.
- In a 9x13 inch baking dish, spread half of the ziti mixture. Top with the cheese mixture and then the remaining ziti mixture.
- Sprinkle remaining 1 cup of mozzarella cheese on top.
- Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes.
- Remove foil and bake for an additional 25 minutes, or until cheese is melted and bubbly.
