Baked French Toast

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
  2. Cut the bread into cubes and place in the prepared baking dish.
  3. In a separate bowl, beat together the eggs, milk, vanilla extract, cinnamon, nutmeg, and brown sugar.
  4. Pour the mixture over the bread cubes, making sure to coat all of them evenly.
  5. If desired, sprinkle chopped nuts on top.
  6. Drizzle the melted butter over the entire dish.
  7. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour (or overnight).
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the bread is cooked through.
  9. Serve with maple syrup and enjoy your delicious baked French toast!
