Baba au Rhum

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, and salt. Set aside.
  2. In a small bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water and let it sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
  3. Add beaten eggs and melted butter to the yeast mixture and mix well.
  4. Pour the yeast mixture into the flour mixture and mix until a smooth dough forms.
  5. Stir in the raisins and cover the bowl with a kitchen towel. Let the dough rise for 1 hour.
  6. Preheat the oven to 375°F and grease a baba au rhum mold or a bundt pan.
  7. Transfer the dough into the mold and bake for 25 minutes or until golden brown.
  8. While the baba is baking, prepare the rum syrup. In a small saucepan, heat the rum and sugar over medium heat until the sugar is completely dissolved.
  9. Once the baba is baked, remove it from the oven and poke holes all over the surface with a skewer.
  10. Pour the rum syrup all over the baba, allowing it to soak in.
  11. Let the baba sit for 10 minutes before removing it from the mold.
