Baba au Rhum
Ingredients:
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup white sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 packet active dry yeast
- 1/4 cup warm water
- 4 eggs, beaten
- 1/2 cup butter, melted
- 1/4 cup golden raisins
- 1/4 cup dark rum
Instructions:
- In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, and salt. Set aside.
- In a small bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water and let it sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
- Add beaten eggs and melted butter to the yeast mixture and mix well.
- Pour the yeast mixture into the flour mixture and mix until a smooth dough forms.
- Stir in the raisins and cover the bowl with a kitchen towel. Let the dough rise for 1 hour.
- Preheat the oven to 375°F and grease a baba au rhum mold or a bundt pan.
- Transfer the dough into the mold and bake for 25 minutes or until golden brown.
- While the baba is baking, prepare the rum syrup. In a small saucepan, heat the rum and sugar over medium heat until the sugar is completely dissolved.
- Once the baba is baked, remove it from the oven and poke holes all over the surface with a skewer.
- Pour the rum syrup all over the baba, allowing it to soak in.
- Let the baba sit for 10 minutes before removing it from the mold.
- Serve the baba au
