Apple Fritters
Ingredients:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1 cup milk
- 1 large egg
- 1 tablespoon melted butter
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 cups apples, peeled and diced
- Vegetable oil for frying
- Powdered sugar for dusting
Instructions:
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, salt, baking powder, sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
- In a separate bowl, mix together the milk, egg, melted butter, and vanilla extract.
- Add the wet mixture to the dry mixture and stir until well combined.
- Gently fold in the diced apples.
- In a deep fryer or heavy-bottomed pot, heat the vegetable oil to 375 degrees F.
- Drop spoonfuls of the batter into the hot oil, cooking until golden brown on both sides, about 2-3 minutes per side.
- Remove the fritters from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain off excess oil.
- Dust the fritters with powdered sugar and serve warm.
