American Pancakes
Ingredients:
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 3 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon white sugar
- 1 1/4 cups milk
- 1 egg
- 3 tablespoons melted butter
Instructions:
- In a large bowl, sift together flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar.
- In a separate bowl, beat together milk, egg, and melted butter.
- Add wet ingredients to dry ingredients and mix until just blended. Do not overmix; batter should be slightly lumpy.
- Heat a lightly oiled griddle or frying pan over medium-high heat.
- Pour or scoop batter onto the griddle, using approximately 1/4 cup for each pancake. Cook until bubbles form on the surface, then flip and cook until golden brown.
- Repeat with remaining batter, adding more oil to the griddle if needed.
- Serve hot with desired toppings such as syrup, butter, fruit, or whipped cream.
